DON’T TELL YOUR BOSS…BUT THESE ARE THE PERFECT DATES FOR YOUR MID-YEAR VACATION

If you have a horrible boss who is always putting sand in your garri, request 5 days leave in the middle of June and wait until they agree before you tell them the dates. Why? Because your 5 days are about to turn into a potentially wonderful 12-day vacation. You can tell them straight up if you have a boss like mine.

How? June 12 is a public holiday (Democracy Day), and June 17 and 18 will almost certainly be holidays too (Eid). So, taking 5 days off work from June 13 to 21 will allow you to live your best life for 12 uninterrupted days. If evening flights are not an issue for you, you can even travel after work on Tuesday, June 11, to get a head start.

Since the Naira dancing Azonto around the dollar at an exchange rate hovering close to 1500 Naira to a dollar, you may want to consider a trip to another city in Nigeria. With beautiful beach resorts springing up in Lagos daily, substituting Las Vegas with Lasgidi may not be a bad idea. I have also heard great things about Almat Farms in Abuja and Porto Golf Resort in Kano. According to reports, Yankari Games Reserve, a childhood fav, is also being revamped!

But if you’re itching to go abroad, consider locations with relatively cheap flight tickets or direct flights, e.g., London, Doha, Istanbul, or Cairo. Other close African countries like Ghana, Tanzania, and South Africa are also great options, especially if you want to make the most of the short vacation by avoiding long flights or layovers.

Whether you explore the beaches of Lagos, the historical allure of Cairo, or the vibrant streets of London, make the most of this mid-year break. It’s time to pack your bags, leave your work worries behind, and immerse yourself in a well-deserved vacation.

Good Luck and Happy Travels!
